The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the results for the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) will be unveiled on Monday, August 7th.

The Head of the Public Affairs unit, Moyosola Adesina, gave this hint on Sunday.

This release of results brings a glimmer of hope for prospective students aspiring to enter higher education institutions.

According to her, some candidates who took the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) had not included their required SSCE results in their applications, indicating that they were anticipating their outcome.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducted the UTME for students across the country in May, as numerous tertiary institutions have already begun their admission procedures.

In total, 1,621,853 candidates from 20,851 public and private schools registered for the SSCE, which took place over a seven-week period, spanning from May 8th to June 23rd.

The Head of WAEC’s Nigeria office, Patrick Areghan, mentioned earlier in May that, as per the customary practice of the examination body, the results for candidates who took the test will be disclosed 45 days after the conclusion of the last exam paper.

Mr. Areghan also revealed that the marking of 76 subjects comprising 197 papers was completed by Tuesday, August 1st, across 85 marking venues and an electronic marking center.

He further revealed that several examiners concluded their marking well before the deadline, some even two or three days in advance.
