In a dramatic turn of events, a man in his early twenties managed to evade a furious mob that sought to mete out justice after he allegedly robbed a sex worker on Ojotolane Street, Mile 3 Diobu, in the capital of Rivers State.

The incident, which unfolded on Sunday at approximately 11:10pm, was sparked by the man’s brazen theft of a bag of money from a sex worker he had just patronized in a brothel located around the Azikiwe area of Mile 2, Diobu.

Sources at the scene recount that the man, whose identity remains undisclosed, snatched the bag containing the sex worker’s earnings and swiftly attempted to flee the premises.

Unwilling to let her hard-earned money slip away, the sex worker gave chase, determined to recover her stolen cash.

As the pursuit intensified, the man took a daring dive into a nearby drainage ditch in a desperate bid to evade capture.

However, his hasty escape led to an unexpected turn of events when he found himself trapped within the confines of the drainage.

The commotion caused by the pursuit attracted the attention of a gathering mob, which swiftly converged at the scene.

Alerted by the sex worker’s urgent cries for help, the mob decided to take matters into their own hands, rescuing the trapped man from the drainage.

According to statements from the sex worker, the accused man had snatched her money-laden bag shortly after utilizing her services.

Her pleas for assistance led to the mob taking swift action, pulling the man from the drainage and preventing what could have turned into a violent lynching.

Mr. Shine Ibe, a concerned landlord and a few other community members, played a pivotal role in diffusing the volatile situation.

They intervened just in time to prevent the mob from resorting to violence and setting the accused man on fire.

In a subsequent interview, the accused individual offered a surprising justification for his actions.

He claimed that his decision to snatch the sex worker’s money was rooted in dissatisfaction with the service he had paid for.

He asserted that the sex worker failed to meet his expectations by not allowing him to ejaculate as agreed upon after their transaction.

Local vigilante operatives were summoned to the scene, and they took custody of the accused man.

However, despite his apprehension, the bag of money that had been snatched from the sex worker remained elusive, with no sign of its whereabouts as of the time of this report.

The incident sheds light on the complex interplay of factors that can contribute to criminal acts, underscoring the need for dialogue and community interventions to address underlying issues and prevent violence from escalating.
