In a strategic bid to quell the rising tide of insurgency within the North-East geopolitical zone, Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) across the region have issued a compelling plea to the governors.
The appeal entails prioritizing the comprehensive distribution of essential relief materials as a pivotal step towards curbing the menace of insurgency.
Convening discreetly in Maiduguri, Borno’s capital, a group of high-ranking secret police officials embarked on in-depth discussions concerning the paramount role of intelligence gathering in countering acts of terrorism.
As these deliberations culminated, a collective communique was released by the DSS Directors, emphasizing the critical nature of swiftly addressing the region’s security concerns.
At the heart of the conference was an ardent focus on the rampant insurgency that has marred the North-East for years. United under the leadership of Chairman Abdullahi Hussani, the DSS Directors subsequently engaged in a meeting with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.
During this interaction, they handed over their consolidated resolutions as a tangible testament to their dedication.
Governor Zulum, who also serves as the Chairman of the North-East Governors’ Forum, expressed profound appreciation for the Directors’ counsel.
He vowed to collaborate wholeheartedly with his fellow governors, intending to reestablish a state of tranquility in the embattled zone.
Furthermore, he pledged his personal commitment to ensure the equitable and efficient allocation of the relief materials to the residents of the afflicted states.
The resonance of this clarion call reverberates with the shared responsibility of DSS Directors and North-East governors alike to address insurgency and its detrimental impacts on the lives of their constituents.
With the powerful tool of well-directed palliative distribution at their disposal, there is a renewed hope that this joint endeavor will pave the way for a brighter, more secure future for the region.
