A Nigerian University, Ambrose Alli University, AAU, in Ekpoma, Edo State has produced a herbal medicine to cure and treat diabetes mellitus.

This was disclosed by the AAU Head, Corporate Communication, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mike Aladenika, in a statement on Thursday.

According to the statement, the National Agency For Food, Drug Administration And Control, NAFDAC, has granted certification for the use of GLUCOZIL as a herbal drug for diabetes treatment.

The statement revealed the Head, Department of Pharmacology, and Sub-Dean, Basic Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, AAU, Dr Jonathan Emordi as the creator of GLUCOZIL.

Speaking, Dr Emordi described GLUCOZIL as a natural remedy that promotes the regeneration of damaged cells caused by diabetes.

He emphasized that extended use of the product not only aids in managing diabetes but also leads to its complete cure.

He said, “if the product is used for a very long period, it will not only manage diabetes but cure it completely.”

In addition to its diabetes-related benefits, GLUCOZIL has been found to offer clinical indications for treating enlarged prostate (BPH) and acts as a detoxifier, possessing potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Commending Dr. Emordi’s achievement, Prof. Sonnie Adagbonyin, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of AAU, expressed the university’s pride in the accomplishments of scholars like Dr. Emordi, who persevere and excel despite challenges.

Adagbonyin encouraged other scholars to view this accomplishment as motivation to make similar strides in knowledge and innovation for the university’s advancement.

“We are proud of the ranking of our scholars who are determined to excel, do us proud despite the various human and environmental challenges.

“Management is proud of Dr. Emordi and I enjoin other scholars to see his achievement as motivation for them to break new grounds, open new frontiers of knowledge and innovation for the further progress of this university, ” he said.
