The operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command have apprehended six individuals for alleged minors’ defilement.

The Kebbi state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Musa, disclosed this during a press conference, held in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesd, revealing the arrest of six suspects linked to the sexual assault of minors within the state.

CP Musa disclosed that the arrests stemmed from a report lodged on August 17 by Ahmed Muhammed of Koko town, Koko-Besse Local Government Area, stating that his 16-year-old daughter had gone missing.

According to him, subsequent investigation led to the young girl disclosing that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by five individuals namely; Suleiman Abubakar, Yunusa Garba, Suleiman Hamza, Yahaya Abubakar, and Shamsudden Muhammed, all residing at the same address.

The suspects, who lured her separately to their homes, are now in custody pending the conclusion of the inquiry.

Another incident was reported by Yusha’u Adamu of Aleiro town on August 21, detailing how his 10-year-old niece had been defiled by Saidu Sani, who also threatened her into silence.

In the same vein, the Kebbi Police conducted a successful operation on July 24, leading to the arrest of Hauwa Suleiman from Babbar Dogo Village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara.

It was gathered that she was found in possession of 566 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition.

Also, in a separate incident, the police successfully repelled a bandit attack on Dan-Umaru Village in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, recovering a rocket launcher.

Musa said the suspects escaped with various degrees of gunshots wounds.

He stated that the police officers also arrested one Aminu Bello for allegedly stabbing a friend to death over debt.

The police commissioner, therefore, urged all law-abiding citizens to be watchful and vigilant as well as report suspected movements to the police and other security agencies for action.
