Gale Of Questioning: Yewa North Residents Demand Financial Report On FG Allocation To Council

A storm of inquiries has descended upon the Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun state, as residents demand accountability for federal allocations.

In a letter addressed to the Executive Chairman and signed by Damilola Elegbede, Vice President II of the Yewa North Patriotic Forum, residents are seeking transparency regarding the utilization of funds allocated to the local council.

The letter, titled “REQUEST FOR ACCOUNTABILITY ON FEDERAL ALLOCATION FOR OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT,” highlights the concerns raised by Hon. Wale Adedayo, a fellow chairman of a local government in Ogun State, who alleged that funds meant for local governments had been withheld and diverted by the state governor.

The Yewa North residents reference a video showing all twenty local government chairmen prostrating before the governor in an “Ewole fagba” video, which they claim brought shame and ridicule to their community.

The Yewa North Patriotic Forum had patiently awaited a response from their local government authorities to the allegations.

In the letter, they give the Executive Chairman forty-eight (48) hours to disclose all funds received from the federation account since July 2021 and provide a detailed account of how these funds have been spent.

The letter concludes with a warning that failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe will result in the mobilization of residents for a peaceful protest at the local government office.

The residents are determined to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of federal allocations for the betterment of their community.

Copies of the letter were sent to various stakeholders, including members of the House of Assembly, the Yewa North Traditional Council, the DSS Yewa North Office, and the Nigeria Police Force in Ayetoro.

As the clock ticks, Yewa North residents eagerly anticipate a response from their local government authorities regarding the allocation and expenditure of federal funds meant to improve their region.
