In a recent verdict at Kaduna High Court, Justice Dairus Khobo handed down a 12-month prison sentence to Peterson Enoch, a 19-year-old resident of Millennium City, Kaduna, for his involvement in internet fraud.

The conviction came after the state Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission brought Enoch before the court.

Justice Khobo found Enoch guilty as charged and sentenced him to 12 months in a correctional facility.

The judge also offered an alternative: a fine of N100,000 for the young offender.

Additionally, Justice Khobo ordered the forfeiture of an iPhone 12 and an Infinix S5 phone, both recovered from Enoch at the time of his arrest, to the Federal Government.

Furthermore, Enoch was directed to restitute $1,000 to his victim, Kingsley Matthew.

The case against Enoch was initiated when he was apprehended in Malali, Kaduna, on August 25, based on actionable intelligence regarding suspected fraudulent activities.

The EFCC Counsel, P. C. Onyeneho, revealed that upon Enoch’s arrest, a thorough analysis of his iPhone 12 and Infinix S5 phone uncovered numerous fraudulent documents sourced from his emails.

Further investigation revealed that Enoch had assumed the identity of “Sandra James” and deceived the complainant, Kingsley Matthew, into parting with $1,000 through fictitious emails. Enoch had pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
