The Executive Chairman of Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Adedapo Odunsi,on Wednesday, flagged off the distribution of 5, 280 bags of rice at the local government secretariat.
In his address to the community, he said that the palliative provisions would be allocated to carefully selected and approved organizations, associations, and entities responsible for distributing them to the most vulnerable individuals in the council.
According to him, these associations and organizations include Royal Traditional Council, Christian Association of Nigeria, Muslim Community, Isese, Baales, Olorituns, Iyalojas, Youths Associations, physically challenged persons, non-indigenes (Arewa, Ibo, Ohori, Calabar and Igede).
He said “we are here today for the distribution of palliative that was given to us through our Excellency, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON, the exectuitve governor of the state.
“Before the distribution today, we have started our programme since last week Monday. On Monday, there was template that was sent to us for us to go and inaugurate a committee at the local level of which the chairman of the local government, the assembly representative for this local government at the state level, the G L O and the leader of the house, and apart from these people, we have other people that represent the communities and the youth at large, the Chief Imam, representative of CAN, representative of Iyaloja , the Olorituns and others.”

We were given the consignment of not less that 5,280 pieces of 10 kg bags of rice. In our sitting on that day, we deliberated extensively and distributed accoriding to the communities, starting with the Community Development Committee (CDC), representing the whole CDAs in Remo North ward by ward.
“In each ward, we have not less than 410 in each ward that will go down to the polling units poor of the poorest that was the instruction given to us from the state of which the population in Remo-North, if you look at it, at large, is not less than 50,000, but, if you look at what was given to us, 5,280 that is about ratio one to nine (1-9) of what we have.”
He emphasized that the committee would meticulously oversee the entire distribution process and ensures it reaches the grassroots level.
He however commended the peaceful nature of the operation.
He therefore expressed gratitude to the Governor for his consistent efforts in serving the community since he assumed office .
However, the former government Liaison officer for Remo North and secretary of the FG Ogun State government Palliative distribution committee in the Remo North, Abiola Ogundeko affirmed that the palliative measures were distributed to the approved representatives and recognized bodies, organizations, and societies, in accordance with the government’s provided template.
He commended the committee’s commitment to adhering to the guidelines and ensuring the fair distribution of palliative provisions to those in need.
The event had in attendance, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria Remo-North, Venerable Samuel Oyetade, representative of the Chief Imam of Isara Remo, Sheikh Muhammad Saheed, Baale Adekunle Ayoola, Deputy leader of the house, Honourable Esho Oluwaseyi, Secretary of Ipara youth movement Comrade Ayodeji Abayomi, the Iyaloja of Remo North, Taheebat Akinyemi, and Honourable Dickson Kolawole Awolaja, representing the people of Remo North State Constituency.
