Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of the President, urged Nigerians to place their trust in her husband’s commitment to gradually transform the country.
Addressing the congregation through a message delivered at an inter-denominational church service in Abuja to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day Anniversary, Tinubu emphasized that her husband is not a magician but is determined to work tirelessly, “brick-by-brick,” to improve the lives of the citizens.
She refrained from blaming past administrations, instead focusing on the administration’s dedication to fixing long-standing issues.
“We just returned from UNGA, and it was successful for us as a nation,” Tinubu stated. “The world is watching Nigeria, and investors are showing interest.
“We inherited challenges from many years ago, and we are not here to place blame but to repair what has been damaged. My husband is not a magician.
“He is going to work methodically, and I have faith that you will trust in this administration. The best is yet to come.”
In the spirit of unity amidst diversity, the First Lady encouraged Nigerians to celebrate their nation’s defining trait. She implored citizens to remain hopeful in the face of current challenges and to place their faith in her husband’s administration.
“Nigerians must look beyond the present circumstances and rediscover hope,” she urged.
“Without hope, how can we be part of the greatness that God has set in motion for our nation? Through the love of Christ, we find a profound message of hope, especially in this year’s theme, ‘Christ in you, the hope of glory.'”
She stressed that good governance would only be effective if Nigerians followed the example of Jesus Christ, embodying the qualities of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, and forgiveness.
Drawing inspiration from Matthew 11:28, she concluded, “No challenge, obstacle, or difficulty is insurmountable if we embrace the character of Christ, who said, ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ In times like these, we must keep our hope alive—the lively hope that Jesus Christ has instilled within us.”
