In a significant development for education in Nigeria, the Federal Government, through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has successfully secured a generous grant of $98 million from the Islamic Development Bank.
This funding is earmarked for the ambitious “Bilingual Education Project” and will be implemented in nine states across the country.
The states that will benefit from this educational windfall are Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, and Osun.

A recent notice of procurement issued by UBEC and shared with our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday outlined the objectives of this crucial grant.
According to the notice, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has received financing for an amount of $98 million from the Islamic Development Bank towards the cost of the Bilingual Education Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for the procurement of instructional materials and supplies for the 30 bilingual education boarding schools in the nine participating states.”
The allocation of these funds to specific states and schools highlights the commitment to evenly distribute resources and improve the educational infrastructure in each region.

Adamawa: Three bilingual schools
