In a bid to secure a prosperous and sustainable future for the state and its residents, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his commitment to bolster the state’s economy. The goal is to improve its revenue base, enabling it to meet its projected expenditures effectively.

Governor Abiodun stated this during the opening of the Treasury Board Meeting, which focused on the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2024 Budget.

The meeting took place at the Obas Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with the Governor represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele,the Governor,  expressed confidence in the developmental policies put in place by his administration.

Abiodun said the policies were designed to stimulate the state’s economic growth, surpassing the pre-COVID-19 era.

The strategy involves a substantial increase in investment in critical socio-economic sectors, the development of physical infrastructure, sustainable debt management, and various structural reforms in governance, public service, and business regulations.

One key objective of the Treasury Board meeting is to ensure the judicious allocation of the state’s limited resources to critical sectors that directly benefit the people and boost revenue.

This meeting also provides every government agency with an opportunity to present and defend its budget proposals.

In his address, Governor Abiodun emphasized that the administration, with the support of the citizenry, is dedicated to a prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive future for all residents.

Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, noted in his welcome address that the state government had enacted the fiscal responsibility law in 2020 to guide the implementation of its developmental policies and achieve sustainable development.

He underlined the administration’s commitment to maintaining financial transparency policies that align with global best practices in Public Financial Management (PFM).

The Treasury Board meeting is a vital instrument in the government’s quest to provide good governance, ensure accountability, and transparency.
