The former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, led a moving funeral ceremony in honor of his revered political mentor, Chief (Mrs) Taiwo Kosenatu Durojaiye, in the heart of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
In a heartfelt address to a congregation gathered at the Emmanuel Anglican Church, Keesi, Amosun passionately expressed his gratitude and admiration for Mama Durojaiye, crediting her with playing a pivotal role in his illustrious political journey.
He attributed his successful tenure as a lawmaker in the National Assembly and his two-term governorship to her unwavering support and invaluable guidance
Senator Amosun described her as a beacon of integrity in the complex world of politics, emphasizing her non-transactional approach and her enduring commitment from the moment they first crossed paths in 2001 until her recent passing.
In his own words, Senator Amosun said, “Well, she’s like a mother to all of us in politics, a political mother. When we ventured into politics, she was one of the trusted individuals I met in 2001.
One remarkable aspect of her character is that she was not a transactional politician. She stayed the course with us from 2001 to this very day, and that’s why we are all here today.”
The Vicar of the Church, Ven. Oluyinka Oke, delivered a poignant sermon, reminding the congregation of the inevitable nature of death and the transient quality of life.
“Death is an inescapable reality, one that will touch every soul at its designated time,” Ven. Oluyinka stated, urging individuals to reflect on the legacy they would leave behind and the enduring impact of their actions.
The grand funeral service was graced by a host of distinguished personalities, including Dr (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun, Chief Derin Adebiyi, Barrister Biyi Otegbeye, Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo, former Minister of State for Transport Mr. Ademola Adegoroye, Architect Segun Abiodun, and Hon. Gbenga Ademosun, along with other prominent figures.
