President Bola Ahmed Tinubu champions the necessity of constitutional roles for traditional rulers, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining peace and security across various domains in the country.
Speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of Oba Victor Kiladejo, the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Tinubu highlighted the significance of empowering traditional leaders within the constitutional framework to ensure national stability.
During the celebration, Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Interior, lauded Oba Kiladejo’s 17 years of peaceful reign, acknowledging the monarch’s contributions to infrastructural and human capital development in Ondo Kingdom.
The president underscored the support provided by the Federal Government to traditional rulers, urging continuous backing for these leaders in their efforts to uphold peace and security while fostering development.
In response, Oba Kiladejo expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s attendance and reflected on his ascension to the throne, attributing the harmonious decision to the uncommon love and support from his siblings.
The Ondo monarch, amidst expressions of appreciation, commended his counterparts in various Yoruba Kingdoms, including the Ooni of Ife and the Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, for their solidarity and support.
