The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has unveiled a concerning trend where numerous Nigerians are falling prey to deceptive entities offering petition processing services.
Adejobi said the deceitful practice has not only obstructed the due attention petitions deserve but has also deprived many of justice.
Making a clear stance, the Nigeria Police asserts that it does not endorse or employ agents to receive and process petitions from citizens.
The force PRO stated this in a statement issued on Sunday,adding that the unauthorized individuals exploit unsuspecting petitioners, extracting large sums of money under the false pretense of expediting complaint procedures.
Such actions not only tarnish the reputation of the police force but also cast a shadow on the integrity of senior officers.
Labeling these practices as improper and unacceptable, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi strongly encourages Nigerians to submit their petitions directly to police offices as standard correspondence.
He emphasizes that there are no preferential treatments or bureaucratic hurdles involved in the petition submission process.
He said the public is urged to play an active role in combating this issue by exposing and reporting individuals engaged in these deceptive practices through officially designated complaint platforms.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi condemns this unethical conduct and pledges to take comprehensive measures to curb such activities.
He threatened that Individuals caught in these illicit dealings will face the full force of the law, reinforcing the commitment to upholding justice and integrity within the police force.
He said “it has been observed that many Nigerians seek the help and services of some unscrupulous and dubious elements in processing written complaints or petitions, which has hindered the smooth attention such petitions deserve and denied many justice.
“The Nigeria Police does not have agents to take and process petitions from Nigerians.
“These elements charge and dupe people of huge amounts under the pretence of processing their complaints with such monies and denting the image of the Police and our Senior Officers. This is improper and unacceptable.
“Nigerians are hereby urged to always drop petitions to our offices as normal correspondence, as there are no special treatments, or administrative bureaucracies on petitions.
“The public is urged to expose and report anyone who is fond of doing that via our published complaint platforms. We condemn this in its totality and will do everything possible to curb such, and whoever caught in that dirty deal will face the full wrath of the law.
