In a distressing incident, 13-year-old Miracle Adereti Kolawole, a female student, was abducted by an unidentified gang on her way back from school in the Ikotun area of Lagos.

The incident occurred last Friday, December 1, prompting an intensified manhunt by the police to apprehend the kidnappers.

Miracle’s father, Mr. Adereti Oluwadare Segun, recounted the harrowing experience, revealing that he dropped Miracle and her younger sister at the bus stop in the morning, as the school bus usually picked them up.

However, he received a distress call in the afternoon notifying him of Miracle’s abduction on her way back home.

The Adereti family home became a gathering place for sympathizers on Sunday, expressing concern about the rising cases of kidnapping in the state and urging the police to enhance security measures, especially with the approaching yuletide season.

The Afonka Police Station in Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos, received the report on the same day, with an incident report indicating that Inspector Ogidiolu Olajimi is leading the investigation and rescue team.

A police officer, preferring anonymity, shared that the police were actively pursuing the culprits and suggested that the kidnapping might have political implications, as the perpetrators assumed Mr. Adereti to be a wealthy politician.

The police report included an account from a witness named Madam Moji, who described the abduction.

She explained that the kidnappers trailed the school bus, strategically parked a few meters away from the bus stop, and seized Miracle forcefully before fleeing in a blue-colored Toyota Sienna bus.

Adereti spoke to journalists, revealing that the kidnappers had contacted him, claiming his status as a local politician made him capable of paying a ransom for his daughter’s release.

Despite receiving threatening calls, he appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to swiftly act, track down the perpetrators, and ensure justice is served.

The traumatized family is seeking immediate police intervention and security at their residence, emphasizing the urgent need to rescue Miracle and bring those responsible for the heinous act to justice.
