In a shocking revelation, legal representatives for Mr. Samuel Soyemi and his family, Chief ‘Kayode Aderemi & Co., has  submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, exposing a distressing case of armed robbery and extortion perpetrated by individuals claiming to be police officers.

PLATFORM TIMES obtained a copy of the petition signed by the legal representative, saying, the harrowing incident occurred on October 10th, 2023, when seven armed men stormed the Soyemi residence in Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State, seizing valuables worth over N2 million and extorting N1,025,000 from the terrified family.

The petition stated that the perpetrators, purportedly from the Police Zonal Command, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, not only conducted an unlawful raid but also subjected the family to arrest and threats of harm unless they paid a staggering N10,000,000.

Fearing for their lives, the Soyemi family urgently sought financial support from relatives and friends, resulting in the immediate transfer of N1,025,000 to an account linked to one of the officers, Officer Oladapo Olayemi.

The intricate web of deceit unfolded as the funds were traced from OPay to an Access bank account belonging to Officer Oladapo Olayemi.

Despite reporting the incident to the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, the Soyemi family alleges a lack of concrete action, prompting their legal representatives to appeal for the IG’s intervention.

Chief ‘Kayode Aderemi & Co. emphatically calls for a thorough investigation and prosecution of the seven implicated police officers, branding their actions as tantamount to robbery.

The legal team also seeks assistance in recovering the alleged stolen N1,025,000 and the valuable items forcibly taken from the family.

With grave concerns for their clients’ safety, the legal representatives implore the Inspector General to provide protection, emphasizing that the officers possess intimate details about the Soyemi family’s residence.

The legal representative said it is ready to provide necessary documentation, including bank statements, to support the claims made in their detailed 21-page petition.

The legal representative  said the  family awaits a response from the Inspector General of Police as they seek justice and security against the alleged rogue officers.

In the petition, the family appeals “We have the further instruction of our clients to appeal that you use your good office to wade into this matter to direct discreet and timely instigations and possible prosecution of the seven police officers that committed this act tantamount to robbery.

” We also have our clients’ instruction to kindly assist in the recovery of their N1,025,000 (ONE MILLION, TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND NAIRA), and all the items mentioned in paragraph 2 above.

” Dear Sir, our clients fear for their lives and safety since these seven police officers already know the house and other details of our clients. We seek your protection for our clients, Sir.

” We are ready and willing to provide statement of account to evince the transactions referenced above should they be required. Please, accept the assurances of our highest regards as we look forward to hearing from you, Sir.”
