Amosun Fires Back: Oshiomhole Conducted Nigeria’s Worst Primaries, Threat To APC Existence

In a scathing response to Adams Oshiomhole’s recent claims about his removal as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, accused Oshiomhole of presiding over one of the worst primaries in Nigeria’s political history.

Amosun, in a press release issued on Wednesday in Abuja, dismissed Oshiomhole’s version of events, asserting that the former APC chairman’s leadership was marred by controversial primaries that led to his eventual removal from office.

He urged Oshiomhole to refrain from denigrating former President Muhammadu Buhari to please the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, describing Oshiomhole as the ‘biggest destructive threat’ to the APC during his tenure.

The feud between the two prominent APC figures intensified after Oshiomhole’s recent remarks at the launch of a book titled “APC and Transition Politics” by APC chieftain Malam Salihu Lukman.

Oshiomhole accused Lukman, along with former Governor of Ekiti, Kayode Fayemi, and his counterpart in Ogun, as the architects behind his controversial removal.

Amosun responded by emphasizing that Oshiomhole’s leadership faced serious allegations leading up to the primaries, with the Department of State Service (DSS) summoning him to clarify certain grave allegations.

He urged Nigerians not to forget the controversies surrounding those primaries and questioned Oshiomhole’s credibility.

The former Ogun State governor also criticized Oshiomhole’s attempt to subtly disparage President Buhari, stating that if Oshiomhole wanted to insult the President, he should have done so boldly.

Amosun dismissed Oshiomhole’s claims about working for a “paymaster in Lagos” and “paymaster in Bourdillon,” labeling them as cheap and typical of an individual with obvious limitations in education and exposure.

As the rift between the two APC leaders deepens, the party faces internal challenges that could impact its cohesion and stability. Observers anticipate further developments as the political dynamics within the APC continue to unfold.
