Plateau Killings Unveil Sinister Agenda, Bishop Kukah Warns

In a stern declaration, Bishop Matthew Hassan-Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto revealed that the ongoing killings on the Plateau extend beyond herder-farmer clashes.

He asserted that the perpetrators harbor an ideological vision for Nigeria and urged the government to thwart their sinister agenda.

The bishop vehemently condemned the horrific Christmas eve attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas, denouncing the assailants as “sons of Satan” determined to extinguish joy from the Plateau.

Kukah stressed that the strategic choice of locations and the mysterious identities of the attackers indicate a larger, more sinister plot.

Highlighting a clandestine war against Nigeria, Kukah raised critical questions about the motives, sponsors, and grievances of the killers.

He warned that the north has become an incubator for destructive forces, including Boko Haram, banditry, and various forms of terrorism, suggesting a long-term plan to seize power.

The bishop urged a proactive approach to the security challenge, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive rebuilding strategy that extends beyond physical infrastructure.

He called for a reset of the national security architecture, emphasizing the imperative to end the culture of intelligence failure and ensure transparent investigations with public outcomes.

Kukah concluded by asserting that rebuilding communities requires a focus on restoring hearts rather than just physical structures.

Urging an end to excuses, he emphasized that the time for decisive action is now.
