In a significant breakthrough, the FCT Command’s Utako Police Division apprehended a three-member ‘One Chance’ robbery gang in Abuja, comprising a husband, wife, and another individual.

The suspects identified as Chukwudi Okorie (51), his wife Chibuzor Okorie (43), and Esther Gabriel (38) were residents of Akaraka Gwagwa.

Their arrest follows a series of robberies, particularly ‘One Chance’ activities conducted within the FCT and its surroundings.

‘One Chance’ is a term used to describe a robbery style where perpetrators pose as drivers and passengers, deceiving innocent commuters before robbing them of valuables.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest resulted from crime prevention operations conducted between Wednesday and Thursday.

She revealed, “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having carried out a series of ‘One Chance’ related activities in the FCT before their apprehension.”

A blue Mazda car with the registration number FCT 590 EV, identified as the operational vehicle used by the syndicate for their criminal activities, was recovered during the arrest.

SP Adeh added, “Investigation is still ongoing to apprehend other accomplices.”

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna Garba, reiterates his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the FCT remains a safe and peaceful place for residents, without fear.

The police continue their efforts to maintain the security and well-being of the community.
