In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decisive judgment on the 2023 Governorship Election in Ogun State, the Peoples Democratic Party has accepted the verdict of the Apex court, saying, another opportunity would soon present  itself .

The party stated this in its statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of PDP in the  State,Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole,  affirming   it’s  commitment to democracy and expressing determination to bounce back in future elections.

The PDP acknowledged the constitutional closure of the matter, recognizing the Apex Court’s affirmation that the petitioners failed to provide sufficient evidence challenging the reelection of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

As the court asserted the validity of the Governor’s victory, the PDP extended congratulations to Abiodun and the people of Ogun State, emphasising  the party’s unwavering dedication to democratic principles.

“While we acknowledge the Supreme Court’s ruling, our commitment to fostering a thriving democracy in Ogun State remains resolute.

“We encourage our members and supporters to remain strong, as another opportunity to serve the State will present itself shortly.

“In the face of this reality, we encourage the good people of Ogun State to remain steadfast, re-dedicate and direct all efforts to the well-being and prosperity of the State as we are confident that another opportunity to serve the State will present itself shortly.

We will not allow this momentary setback to dampen our spirits and patriotic resolve to liberate and reposition Ogun State for greatness.

“Our Candidate, Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu remains ever committed to public service and will continue to make himself available whenever the need arises.

“We appreciate all party members and our distinguished leaders across the 20 Local Government Areas in the State, our supporters, Professional bodies, market men and women, business people, traders, journalists, traditional rulers, religious leaders and many others for their unwavering support.

“Your dedication during the campaigns, at the polls, and throughout the legal proceedings has not gone unnoticed.

“The peace and development of the State are our utmost priorities.”
