Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has affirmed his commitment to leveraging the state’s resources for the development of vital infrastructure, including schools and roads.
The governor made this declaration during a Thanksgiving Service held at St. James’ Anglican Church in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area, marking the conclusion of election litigations that reached the Supreme Court.
Describing the recently concluded election litigations as unnecessary distractions, Governor Abiodun assured the people that the period of legal battles was behind, allowing the administration to fully concentrate on the welfare and prosperity of Ogun citizens.
“With just three years and four months remaining in our term, we are determined to implement the rest of our sustainable legacies that will create jobs, foster individual prosperity, and promote the well-being and welfare of all our citizens,” stated Governor Abiodun.
Highlighting the economic achievements of his administration, the governor proudly announced Ogun’s position as the second-highest state in Internally Generated Revenue.
He emphasised the positive impact this financial strength would have, enabling the government to build more roads, houses, and schools across the state.
Governor Abiodun expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their unwavering support, crediting their commitment to his victory in the recent legal battles.
The governor also extended his thanks to the Supreme Court, acknowledging the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the panel chair for upholding the rule of law and displaying transparency and diligence in affirming the victory.

“ I remember his words when I won my election in 2019. He said Dapo, this victory is sweeter than honey and he continues to resonate with me
“I will also like to express my gratitude to the noble jurists of the Supreme Court led by the noble Chief Justice of Nigeria and the panel chair for upholding the rule of law and displaying utmost transparency and diligence in affirming our victory,” he added.
During the sermon by the Bishop of Remo Diocese, Most Reverend Olusina Fape, Governor Abiodun was urged not to take the victory for granted.
The Bishop encouraged him to remain focused on serving the people even better during his second term, emphasising the need to surpass past achievements.
The Bishop commended the governor’s initiatives, including affordable housing, good road networks, and the establishment of an airport that put the state on the global map of air travels.
While praying for the success of the second term, Bishop Fape charged Governor Abiodun to avoid distractions and political conflicts, relying on divine guidance for a worthy successor.
The Thanksgiving Service witnessed the presence of past governors, deputy governors, political stalwarts, members of trade associations, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and captains of industries, among others.
