In a significant commitment to the advancement of education, President Bola Tinubu, represented by Deputy Senate President Sen. Jibrin Barau, announced robust financial support for the enhancement of the education sector in Nigeria.
The assurance was made during the 8th Convocation Ceremony of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), held in Oye-Ekiti.
President Tinubu expressed determination to elevate the standard of education across the country, emphasizing the goal to ensure that every financially disadvantaged student in each state benefits from tertiary loans.
He extended congratulations to the graduating students of FUOYE, offering his prayers for their success in future endeavors.
Acknowledging the achievements of leaders in the Senate, President Tinubu commended Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, Sen. Solomon Yayi, and Mr. Yusuf Gadgi for receiving Honorary Doctoral Degrees from the institution.
He also expressed condolences to the families of two traditional rulers killed by suspected kidnappers, assuring that his administration would actively pursue, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators to eradicate kidnapping in the state.
In response, Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele, speaking on behalf of the awardees, expressed gratitude to FUOYE’s management for the conferred Honorary Doctoral Degrees.
He assured the university of their commitment to providing necessary facilities for its growth.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State lauded the university’s achievements within a short period.
He urged the institution to prioritize research addressing national challenges and promised continued support from his administration.
Governor Oyebanji advised graduating students to remain modest in their celebrations, encouraging them to read the convocation lecture titled
“The Failure of Success” by Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, delivered during the ceremony.
Dignitaries from Sen. Solomon Yayi’s hometown in Ogun state, as well as Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele’s Iyin-Ekiti, attended the program alongside traditional rulers from various towns in Ekiti.
Vice-chancellors and registrars from various universities also graced the occasion, underscoring the importance of the event in the academic community.
