The Youth Bureau (TYB), in collaboration with Civil Society Stakeholders, organized an interactive Town Hall meeting at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, on Tuesday, 13th February 2024.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the gathering, convened by Razaq Olokoba, aimed to address contemporary socio-economic challenges faced by communities across the nation.
Olokoba emphasized the importance of a stable and peaceful political environment as a prerequisite for economic growth and prosperity.
Highlighting the prolonged economic challenges resulting from decades of mis-governance, policy shifts, office abuse, and corruption, exacerbated by the global economic fallout from the Covid-19 lockdown, Olokoba praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reform initiatives.
He acknowledged the sacrifices citizens make in the pursuit of such reforms, emphasizing their role in fostering lasting solutions to societal economic issues.
Expressing concern over social unrest in various parts of the country, participants at the Town Hall meeting showcased genuine patriotic fervor, optimistic about overcoming the current economic challenges and achieving sustained growth.
The forum issued a call to President Tinubu to engage the civic space, consolidating support for existing policy reforms and ensuring effective goal delivery.
Resolutions from the engagement included: a call for the Federal Government to form strategic partnerships with civil society stakeholders to combat “Economic Saboteurs.”
Emphasizing the need for conscientious patriots to unite in safeguarding collective heritage and immediate communities.
Recognizing Lagos as the commercial hub critical to the socio-economic stability of Nigeria and the sub-continental region, demanding concerted efforts to ensure its seamless growth as a global mega-city.
Advocating a massive campaign by the National Orientation Agency against an insatiable desire for foreign luxury products, starting with government officials, politicians, and the elite, as a means to curb the over-dollarization of the economy.
