The Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho has declared the eight years of former President Muhammad Buhari’s administration as a “disaster and agony” for the Yoruba race.

Speaking in a 2:08 video clip shared on social media on Thursday, Igboho said Buhari should be blamed the the woes in the country.
While addressing his loyalists ,Igboho said he was in Ipapo, Oyo State, and minced no words, condemning Buhari’s leadership.
He said sm “The eight years spent by Nubari were a disaster and agony for the Yoruba race. He has become a past leader.”
Some uncultured people are asking me to abuse Yoruba leaders . They are supposed to blame Buhari instead.”
He cautioned those who urged him to criticise Yoruba leaders, asserting that the blame for the nation’s woes lay squarely on the former president’s shoulders.
Igboho’s return to Nigeria in 2024 marks the end of a self-imposed exile that began in 2022.
The catalyst for his departure was a violent clash between his aides and DSS operatives in Ibadan, leading him to seek refuge in the Republic of Benin.
During his absence, his mother passed away in 2023 while he was detained in Benin Republic, adding a poignant layer to his return as he arrives to partake in her final funeral rites in Igboho and Ibadan.
The Yoruba Nation activist’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed the purpose of Igboho’s return, stating that it was solely for his mother’s burial.
A video posted online captured the emotional moment as Igboho waved to residents of Igboho town upon his arrival, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
Igboho’s journey over the past years has been fraught with legal battles and political turmoil. Detained in Benin Republic in October 2021 on charges of “associating with criminals,” he spent two years in a Beninese prison.
His recent release, which he attributes to a conditional medical treatment, has reignited discussions about the complexities of his situation.
Expressing gratitude, Igboho thanked Benin President Patrice Talon, a former Nigerian president, and Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka for their support during his time in exile.
As he navigates the challenges of reintegration into Nigerian society, Igboho’s return rekindles debates about the political landscape, the legacy of Buhari’s presidency, and the ongoing quest for self-determination within Nigeria.
The coming days are likely to witness a confluence of mourning, political discussions, and reflections on the troubled journey of the Yoruba Nation activist.
