In a recent statement, Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political group, led by Sir Reuben Fasoranti, has advised the Yoruba-speaking populace not to participate in the planned protests against the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fasoranti, the National Leader of Afenifere, addressed the nation, acknowledging the current challenges faced by Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of understanding the broader context of the economic measures initiated by President Tinubu’s administration.

According to Fasoranti, these measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira, aim to restore economic prosperity and stability.

While recognizing the immediate hardships caused by these reforms, Fasoranti appealed to Yoruba citizens and fellow Nigerians across ethnicities to exercise patience and avoid engaging in protests that could escalate tensions.

He stressed the need to give the government sufficient time to realize the intended benefits of its economic strategies.

Fasoranti explained that the Federal Government’s actions, though challenging in the short term, are designed to create a more sustainable economic environment.

He urged citizens to view the reforms as necessary steps towards the long-term well-being of the nation.

He highlighted the potential damage caused by past corrupt practices within the oil and financial sectors, emphasising the collective understanding required to navigate through the current challenges.

The leader of Afenifere implored citizens to trust in the government’s commitment to the nation’s welfare.

He encouraged constructive dialogue and positive contributions to the ongoing economic reforms.

Fasoranti appealed for unity and understanding, emphasizing that enduring today’s hardships is crucial for the nation’s future prosperity.

Assuring the public of Afenifere’s active engagement with the government at various levels, Fasoranti concluded by urging citizens to remain steadfast, patient, and united.

He expressed confidence that collective resilience will pave the way for a more prosperous future for the nation.
