Tragedy struck in the Araromi Imota area of Lagos State as 80-year-old Isiyaka Ayinde reportedly took his own life at the Watch Tower on Thursday evening around 7:30 p.m.
According to a police source, the elderly man was discovered by his children hanging in the kitchen with a rope tied to the burglary proof of a window.
“The deceased’s family, influenced by age and religious beliefs, insisted on an immediate burial,” confirmed Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer.
Despite DCB personnel visiting the scene and documenting the incident, the family opted against depositing the body at the mortuary.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in January when a 32-year-old female marketing employee of a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, identified as Amarachi Ugochukwu, took her own life by consuming an insecticide.
