    Crescent Varsity Rewards Six Nigerians at 18th Founder’s Day Celebrations

    Crescent University, Abeokuta has rewarded six Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in various categories of the 2024 Bola Ajibola Community Service Awards.

    An Owu-Abeokuta kingmaker, ace broadcaster and author, Chief Abiodun Lasile, who is an Owu-Abeokuta kingmaker, ace broadcaster and prolific author clinched the 2024 edition of Bola Ajibola Community Service Awards along with five other distinguished Nigerian at the 18th Founder’s Day of Crescent University Abeokuta.

    Other awardees include Mrs Stella Willoughby, a lecturer, university administrator and Executive Secretary of Ijamido Children Home who got the award for her promotion of orphan and child care ethics and Islamic Humanitarian Society of Nigeria, represented by its National Coordinator Mr Rasheed Okenla, was recognized for commitment to humanitarian services in correctional centres in the country.

    Similarly, Mr.Babatunde Denton, an entrepreneurship expert, philanthropist and change agent, Mr.Akeem Salami Adeola,a Public Relations guru cum serial entrepreneur who has successfully managed local and international brands, and Mr Adeola Adelanwa, a unique manufacturer who pioneered truck-based catering company, Mobile Kitchen Limited, in Nigeria, were honoured for their shrewd entrepreneurship and leadership mentoring.

    According to the event brochure, the Bola Ajibola Community Service award was instituted a few years ago to immortalize the Founder of the university for his life of service as model for humanity.

    The award is to annually recognize people who have distinguished themselves in a particular sphere of life as captured by Judge Bola Ajibola in a quote credited to Chief Obafemi Awolowo that “recognition of greatness in others, is itself an act of greatness”.

    Earlier, the Guest Lecturer Dr (Mrs) Tamramat Mosun Belo-Olusoga speaking on the theme of the event “Competence And Self-Determination For Women Leaders”, stressed the need for women to invest more in personal development to excel in their respective leadership roles in the society.

    Bello-Olusoga, a banking guru and founder of the prestigious City of Knowledge Academy encouraged women to be courageous and determined to succeed at any given opportunities, if they must be recognized in the all fields of human endeavours.

    In his keynote speech,the Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Paramount Ruler of Owu Kingdom, emphasized the need for competence among women to succeed in their various leadership position.

    The monarch who described women as better leaders and underscored the need to give more attention to education and development of women because of their great influence in the society.

    Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola(SAN) while pledging the board’s resolve to move institution to the next level of academic excellence, rewarded lecturer and students in the Bola Ajibola College of Law for doing the school proud as a sole representative of Nigeria and entire continent of Africa at an international event in France for a moot court competition.

    The Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to the guest lecturer for giving scholarship to ten indigent students in the last academic session.
