The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has cautioned Nigerians against the mutilation of naira notes, threatening to convict naira abusers like Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky.

Bobrisky was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail without an option of fine for abusing Naira.

EFCC stated this on its social media platforms, reiterating that non-compliance with the directive could lead to legal consequences.

The agency in its message wrote, “Say No To Abuse of the Naira. If preaching will not send the message, conviction will. #EFCCNigeria #SayNoToAbuseoftheNaira.”

Responding to the announcement, SP Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the Delta State Command, highlighted the need for collective efforts in combating various forms of cyber-related crimes.

He urged vigilance against cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and fake news, echoing the EFCC’s call for responsible online behavior.

The EFCC’s proactive stance reflects a concerted effort to uphold financial integrity and deter illicit activities, signaling a robust approach to law enforcement in Nigeria.
