In a bid to empower and equip youths in Ogun state with essential vocational skills, the Youth Centre for Industrial Training, a division of the Peter Akinola Foundation, has  commenced a nine-month training programme  for 134 individuals.

The initiative aims to provide practical training in various fields including building construction, metal and aluminum fabrication, ICT, fashion designing, electrical work, and catering.

During the kickoff event, the foundation not only initiated the training but also distributed working tools to the participants.

This comprehensive approach ensures that the beneficiaries are not only equipped with knowledge but also have the necessary resources to apply their skills effectively in their respective fields.

Collaborating with partners such as the Tunde Lemo Foundation, Josephus Foundation, and Owo Diocese, the Peter Akinola Foundation strives to broaden its impact and reach within the community.

The Director of the foundation, Tunde Awolana, highlighted the institution’s longstanding commitment to youth development, having successfully graduated over 1,500 individuals in the past 14 years.

Awolana emphasized the foundation’s core mission, stating, “Our primary goal is to provide Nigerian youths with practical skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and contribute positively to society.

Through our training programmes, we aim to steer young people away from the streets and equip them with the tools necessary to thrive in various industries.”

The training curriculum encompasses six departments, each focused on practical skill acquisition.

In his address, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, commended the philanthropic efforts of the foundation and urged other well-meaning individuals and organizations to support youth development initiatives.

Recognizing the limitations of government resources, Oba Gbadebo stressed the importance of collective action in addressing the needs of the youth population.

“This initiative, spearheaded by one individual and supported by various stakeholders, exemplifies the transformative impact that can be achieved through concerted efforts,” remarked Oba Gbadebo.

“It serves as a testament to the potential for positive change when communities come together to invest in the future generation.”
