In a fervent plea for expedited justice delivery, Ogun State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Oluwasina Ogungbade SAN, says  80 percent of cases before the Court of Appeal in Ibadan have their origins in Ogun State.

Speaking from Abeokuta, Mr. Ogungbade stressed  the critical need to establish a local branch of the Court of Appeal in Ogun State.

His impassioned call for action came during a reception for Justices from the Court of Appeal, Ibadan, led by its President, Justice Monica Dongbam-Mensem.

Elaborating on the dire situation,  Ogungbade explained that the overwhelming caseload from Ogun State prompted the President and other Justices of the Court of Appeal to embark on a visit to the state.

Their mission: to clear the backlog of cases accumulated over time.

“The state would benefit immensely from the visit as this would foster easy access to justice, in line with the goal of the present administration,” affirmed Ogungbade.

He said  the administration’s commitment to ensuring swift and fair legal recourse for all citizens.

In a strategic move to enhance efficiency, Mr. Ogungbade disclosed plans to organize the Appeal Court Justices into two sections, facilitating hearings in both the morning and afternoon.

This innovative approach aims to optimize resources and accelerate the resolution of pending cases.
