The Peace Initiative Network (PIN), headed by Dr. Michael Femi Sodipo, held a two-day peace summit from June 4th to 5th, 2024, at the Akarigbo Palace Hall.

Themed “Partnering for Safer and Resilient Communities in Ogun State, Nigeria,” the summit aimed to address security challenges and foster community resilience in Remoland and across Ogun State.

In a significant move to empower the youth, 32 participants received equipment in various trades, including sewing, welding, carpentry, and hairdressing.

Dr. Sodipo emphasized the economic upliftment these tools are expected to provide, pledging to monitor the progress of beneficiaries over the next three months.

He also announced plans for another workshop targeting 40 youths in Remo to address pressing societal issues.

The summit, the second in Ogun State organized by PIN following events in Northern Nigeria and Abeokuta, brought together key stakeholders and experts.

Attendees included state government officials, members of the Remo Traditional Council, law enforcement agencies, community development associations, youth groups, and non-governmental organizations.

The gathering underscored the collective responsibility for ensuring safety and security in the region.

Speaking at the event, Special Adviser to governor on Education, Mrs Ronke Soyombo urged parents to be alive to their responsibility.

Soyombo lauded PIN for the summit and empowerment ,urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment .

The summit concluded with PIN demonstrating it’s  commitment to economic empowerment by providing 1 10 tailoring machines, 8 welding machines, 6  barbering machines, 2 catering machines, 2 vulcanizing machines, 2 hairdressing machines, and 2 carpentry machines to the Remo community.

PIN expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions and looks forward to continued collaboration with stakeholders to foster peace and resilience in Remoland and Ogun State.
