The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious spiritual leader, a 25-year-old female gunrunner, and several other suspects involved in various crimes across the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Ali Dabigi, revealed that the operation led to the apprehension of Mallam Ali Bello, a 47-year-old marabout.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Bello is known for preparing charms for a deadly bandit kingpin named Boderi and other bandits operating within the North-West Zone.

His arrest occurred while he was in the process of preparing a charm for a bandit, Usman Ibrahim, at his shrine located in the Kidandan forest.

In a related development, the police also arrested Aisha Abubakar, a 25-year-old woman, who was caught in possession of 550 rounds of AK-47 ammunition.

She was intercepted while en route from Nasarawa to Katsina State to deliver the ammunition to bandits.

Commissioner Dabigi, during a press briefing where 143 suspects arrested for various offences over the past two months were paraded, highlighted the Command’s significant achievements in recent times.

“Let us turn our attention to the achievements of the Kaduna State Police Command in the last two months,” Dabigi said.

“Seventy-three armed robbery suspects were arrested, 70 kidnapping suspects were apprehended, and nine bandits were neutralized. Additionally, we have recovered 1,817 rounds of live ammunition from criminals.”

The Commissioner further detailed the Command’s accomplishments, noting the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, seven locally made arms, and eight motor vehicles of different brands.

He added that, eight suspects were arrested in connection with car theft, seven motorcycles of different brands were recovered, and one tricycle was seized.

He reiterated their commitment to serving and protecting the people of Kaduna State with integrity and professionalism.

“Our achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our officers and men,” he stated. “We remain steadfast in our mission to ensure the safety and security of the people of Kaduna State.”

The arrests of the marabout and the female gunrunner mark a significant step in the fight against banditry in the region.
