The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the abductors of two Chinese expatriates, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, who were kidnapped in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road, in  Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State.

The expatriates, who are associated with Good One Carton, a company operating in the area, were abducted on Monday around 1:45 p.m.

They had reportedly left the company premises without any security detail to visit friends when the incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the kidnappers had reached out to the company, demanding a ransom for the release of the expatriates.

“The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Messrs Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding money in exchange for their release,” Odutola said.

She further revealed that operatives from the Ewekoro Division, with the support of local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, conducted an extensive search of the Kémta village forest but were unable to locate the victims.

Efforts are currently ongoing to secure the release of the expatriates, Odutola added.
