The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor and General Manager of the Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), Engr. Akeem Babatunde Adesina, has been honoured with the Most Distinguished Labour Support Award by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Chapter.

The award was presented during a visit by members of the NLC, led by its Chairman, Comrade Ademola Benco, to Engr. Adesina’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The recognition was in acknowledgment of his unwavering support and dedication to the welfare of workers in the state.

Expressing his gratitude, Engr. Adesina attributed his achievements to the support of the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the staff of the agency.

He emphasized that the award was a testament to the collective efforts of the agency’s management and staff, and he pledged to continue prioritizing initiatives that benefit the workforce.

“I thank you for this honor. This award will undoubtedly inspire me to do more, especially knowing that my efforts are being recognized.

“I pledge to remain committed to people-oriented programs, and this administration will continue to support labor activities and programs for the overall benefit of Ogun State’s workforce,” Engr. Adesina said.

He also highlighted the administration’s efforts in improving workers’ welfare, including the payment of over 20 months of outstanding debts inherited from the previous administration, regular promotion exercises, prompt payment of salaries, and approval of both local and international training for workers.

In his remarks, Comrade Benco praised Engr. Adesina as a selfless politician and a grassroots administrator whose contributions to local government administration are widely acknowledged across the country.

“Our hearts are gladdened by your acts of generosity and charity towards humanity. We will continue to pray for your success because your success is ours too. May God Almighty continue to grant you the wisdom to navigate this life with good tides and good health,” Comrade Benco stated.

He also commended the Abiodun-led administration for its worker-friendly initiatives, including the provision of Peculiar Allowance, leave bonuses, and the completion of the Labour Secretariat, among other interventions.
