Otunba Segun Showunmi, a prominent Nigerian political figure, has commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for his monumental developmental projects across the state. Showunmi, who recently toured several project sites within the Ede/Oshogbo axis, expressed amazement at the governor’s achievements, particularly considering the short period since Adeleke assumed office.

In a statement shared with PLATFORM TIMES, Showunmi revealed that he spent three hours visiting various project sites, conducting on-the-spot interviews, and documenting his findings.

He noted that his expectations were modest, given that much of the media attention surrounding Adeleke has focused on his charismatic personality rather than his developmental efforts.

He said, however, what he witnessed left him in awe.

He said “I cannot believe the direction at which the Governor is tilting the development of the state to,” Showunmi remarked.

“He has monumental on-going projects which have great capacity to influence the living standard of the people positively.”

Among the projects highlighted by Showunmi are the Akoda-Ede Road, the Oke Gada Bridge, the stabilized Ede-Ido-Osun-Ofatedo-Oshogbo Expressway, and the ongoing dualization of the Oshogbo-Ibadan-Iwo Road.

Additionally, the 5-Span Lameco Bridge and the 10-Span Oke Fia Bridge are also under construction, along with the remodeled Government House VIP Lodge.

Showunmi praised the sustainable environmental management initiatives in Osun, which include erosion control and the expansion of rivers and waterways in several towns, including Iwo, Ilesha, Ife, Ikirun, Ila, Oshogbo, and Ede.

The governor’s efforts to maintain cleanliness across the state through public-private partnerships also drew commendation.

Further emphasizing Adeleke’s impact, Showunmi pointed to the rehabilitation and upgrading of 332 Primary Health Centers across the state, each equipped with boreholes, generators, and solar lights.

He also lauded the governor for ensuring that civil servants receive their full salaries promptly, a significant improvement from the previous administration’s practice of paying half salaries for 30 months.

“The excellence of the Adeleke family has rubbed positively on the government of Osun state,” Showunmi stated.

“I hope the Governor will remain focused and not be distracted by political opportunists.”

Showunmi also acknowledged the continuation of the primary school feeding programme, “Home Meals,” and the “Light Up Osun” solar initiative, among other ongoing projects that have significantly contributed to the state’s transformation.

In his concluding remarks, Showunmi called on all sons and daughters of Osun to join hands with Governor Adeleke in contributing their quota to the state’s development, underscoring that the governor is determined to reposition Osun State on the path of sustained growth and prosperity.
