…Osibote Emerges President, Okanlawon, Folarin, Ogunsola, Others Join New Leadership

The National Old Students Association of African Church Grammar School, Apata Ganga, Ibadan, has elected a new set of executives to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The election, conducted by the association’s Electoral College, produced an educationist, Mr Olusegun Osibote, as President.
Osibote emerged unopposed and was unanimously endorsed by members of the Electoral College.
Also elected was a Human Resources expert, Mr Kayode Okanlawon, who emerged First Vice President, while Mr Olumuyiwa Ralph Ogunsola was elected Second Vice President.
Pastor Ayotunde Ayodiran emerged General Secretary, with real estate practitioner, Asiwaju Leke Olowe, elected Social/Welfare Secretary.
Other members of the new executive are Mrs Omolara Adegboye, Treasurer; Mr Adewale Taiwo, Auditor; and veteran journalist, Pastor Dare Folarin, who was elected Publicity Secretary.
The election has ushered in a new leadership team expected to consolidate the activities of the association while strengthening the bond among old students of the institution across Nigeria and the diaspora.
Members of the association commended the five-man Electoral Committee for what they described as a well-coordinated electoral process.
The committee was headed by former Ogun State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Pastor Dimeji Awoyemi.
Members particularly praised the committee for creating an arrangement that enabled old students based in different parts of the world to participate in the election and exercise their franchise without any reported hitch.
The development was described by members as an indication of the association’s commitment to inclusiveness and democratic participation.
Speaking after his emergence, the new President, Osibote, expressed appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in the new executive.
He promised to run an inclusive administration that would give members a sense of belonging while pursuing initiatives capable of taking the association to greater heights.
Osibote also pledged to explore new areas of development and strengthen the association’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of its members and the growth of the alma mater.
He called for the cooperation and support of members as the new administration begins its two-year tenure.
The newly elected executives are expected to work collectively with members and other stakeholders to build on the achievements of previous administrations and open new frontiers of development for the association.
