    Akeredolu Resumes Duty, Vows To Complete Full Tenure

    In a triumphant return to office, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has officially resumed his duties after a month-long medical vacation abroad, expressing his determination to serve out his full term.

    Akeredolu made a remarkable return to his official duties following a month-long medical vacation abroad.

    His triumphant comeback was marked by a series of meetings with key stakeholders.

    Governor Akeredolu expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering prayers during his period of recovery. He reassured the nation that he is resolute in his commitment to complete his full tenure in office.

    The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly,Olamide Oladiji,confirmed the Governor’s resumption and stated that Governor Akeredolu had formally communicated his return from medical leave to the assembly.

    This action aligns with Section 190(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    In a parliamentary meeting, Oladiji announced, “The governor resumed duty today, Friday, 8th September 2023.” She expressed her appreciation to God for the safe return of the Governor and noted the joy felt by the people of Ondo State at seeing him back in office.

    Governor Akeredolu had initially informed the assembly of his medical leave on June 4, 2023, and later extended it on July 4, 2023. His return signifies a significant moment for the state.

    In a separate gathering held at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, the Governor convened a stakeholders’ meeting with members of his state executive council, party leaders, and members of the state House of Assembly. 

    During this meeting, he officially presented his resumption letter to Speaker Oladiji and provided a copy to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was also in attendance.

    Governor Akeredolu expressed his deep appreciation for the prayers and support he received during his recovery process. 

    He declared, “I am back, and by the grace of God, I will be alive to complete my full tenure in office.”

    The Speaker, on behalf of the lawmakers, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s safe return, referring to it as an answered prayer.

    Governor Akeredolu further extended his gratitude to the people of Ondo State for their continuous prayers and support. He held additional meetings with members of the National Assembly, including Senator Jide Ipinsagba, as well as various stakeholders and groups in the state.

    The presence of his wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, added to the celebration of his return, as she joined the Governor in welcoming members of the Foundation of Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO).

    The resumption of Governor Akeredolu signals a return to full governance in Ondo State, and his commitment to serving out his term remains unwavering.
