Akinlade Urges Inclusion Of APM Members In Ogun PDP, Citing Exclusion

In a bid to reinvigorate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state ahead of the 2027 elections, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, the Deputy Governorship candidate, has raised concerns over the treatment of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) members within the party.

Akinlade, also known as Triple A, who defected to the PDP in June 2022 along with over 20,000 APM members, voiced his grievances at a gathering held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta.

Expressing disappointment, Akinlade highlighted that since their move to the PDP, APM members had not been issued party membership cards and were often referred to as “APM People,” suggesting a sense of exclusion.

He underscored the sacrifices made by his followers, noting that while some were accommodated within the party’s ranks, many were sidelined, despite their loyalty and contributions.

Akinlade emphasized the importance of integrating APM members fully into the PDP, citing it as vital for bolstering the party’s strength and fostering unity among supporters.

Addressing the issue, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, the PDP Chairman in Ogun state, commended Akinlade for his leadership and commitment to resolving internal party disputes amicably.

Ogundele assured APM members of their inclusion within the PDP fold, affirming plans by the National secretariat to facilitate their registration into the party.

He acknowledged Akinlade’s efforts in promoting party cohesion and reiterated the party’s commitment to ensuring that all members are duly recognized and afforded their rights within the organization.

The meeting concluded with a pledge of solidarity from both Akinlade and PDP leadership towards advancing the party’s agenda and fostering a stronger, more inclusive political environment in Ogun state.
