The Nigerian Books of Record (Who’s Who in Nigeria) is the first
Nigerian encyclopedia that showcases outstanding achievements and records set by Nigerians in various fields.

Established in 2011, it aims to promote excellence, innovation, and patriotism
among Nigerians, while also projecting the country’s positive image globally.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the Nigerian Books of Record Research Centre, Abuja,  Prof. David David, highlighted the organization’s mission to document and honour notable Nigerian achievements.

He noted that the NBR recognizes individuals who have made significant impacts in fields such as literature, education, business, and sports, among others.

“The Nigerian Books of Record is not just about celebrating achievements; it is about inspiring future generations.

“By showcasing extraordinary accomplishments, we instill a sense of ambition, possibility, and national pride among young Nigerians,” he said.

Prof. David emphasized the importance of the NBR in promoting a unified national identity, showcasing Nigeria’s diverse heritage, and countering negative stereotypes about Nigerians on the global stage.

He also highlighted the platform’s role in preserving historical accounts and motivating individuals to strive for excellence.

While expressing gratitude for the honour, Oba Gbadebo pledged his continued support for the NBR.

He commended the efforts of the founder and coordinator of the Sixth Sense Initiative, Abiodun Lasile, who organized the event, for his dedication to promoting Nigeria’s image and fostering a reading culture.

Alhaj Adewale Sonaike described his induction as a fulfillment of his efforts in nation-building.

“This recognition is a testament to the value of perseverance and trust in the potential of Nigeria as a nation full of opportunities,” he said.

Similarly, Dr. Adebola Akindele expressed his appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to continue contributing to national development.

He noted, “Nigeria is on the right track, and though we face challenges, we are gradually establishing ourselves on the global map economically and culturally.”

Abiodun Lasile, in his address, explained that the induction ceremony in Egbaland was designed to celebrate excellence and inspire more Nigerians to contribute positively to the nation’s growth.
He urged the inductees to continue serving as role models for younger generations.

The Nigerian Books of Record, according to its officials, covers five categories, documenting achievements across various sectors of the economy.

It also includes a “Kid Heroes” segment, showcasing young Nigerians making remarkable strides globally.
