The African Church Grammar School Old Students Association (AFROOSA) 1997 Set has donated school uniforms to 55 students of their alma mater in Ibadan, aiming to support less privileged students and ease the financial burden on parents.
The donation, presented on Thursday by the association’s president, Mr. Omosanya Oladipupo, and other members, included uniforms for both junior and senior students.
The gesture was part of activities marking the 2024 Reunion of the association, which celebrates its commitment to the school’s growth and development.
Speaking at the presentation, Oladipupo expressed pride in the institution’s role as a foundation for the success of its alumni.
He urged current students to remain diligent and focused, assuring them that they too could achieve greatness and return to contribute to the school’s legacy.
“We are here to present these uniforms as a way of giving back to the school that shaped us. This school is our foundation, and we are proud to associate with it,” Oladipupo said.
“I encourage you to pay attention to your teachers, be diligent, and face your studies. In the future, you too will make the school proud.”
He also praised the school’s principal, Mrs. Felicia Ajayi, for organizing a warm reception, noting that such encouragement would inspire the alumni to remain active in their support for the school.
In her response, Ajayi commended the alumni for their generosity and highlighted the inspiration their visit brings to current students.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships with alumni to further uplift the institution and its facilities.
“We appreciate this gesture and the motivation it provides to our students. The school will always welcome support from our alumni,” Ajayi stated.
Preparations are underway for the 2024 Reunion of the AFROOSA 1997 Set, scheduled to take place on December 28th and 29th at Ilaji Resort, Ibadan.
According to Oladipupo, the event will reconnect old students, celebrate achievements, and raise funds for the school’s development.
The reunion will feature a novelty football match and other activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and nostalgia among members.
“This reunion underscores the enduring bonds and spirit of African Church Grammar School. We are excited to reunite with colleagues and give back to our alma mater,” Oladipupo added.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and development of the school, pledging more impactful initiatives in the future.
