The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has debunked a viral result slip claiming that a candidate from Cross River State scored 394 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, describing it as fabricated and misleading.
The examination body, in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the result—widely circulated on social media—did not emanate from its system and should be disregarded.
The fake result, shared by a social media user identified as @Onsogbu on X, alleged that one Okon Winniefred Sampson recorded near-perfect scores across four subjects, sparking widespread reactions online.
Reacting, JAMB said it was “surprising that such a fabrication is being shared by otherwise well-informed Nigerians,” stressing that the document bore clear signs of falsification.
Benjamin explained that UTME results are currently “view-only” and not issued in printable or shareable formats, noting that the viral slip was generated using a non-existent template.
“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic,” he said.
He further pointed out discrepancies in the registration number displayed on the fake slip, saying it did not conform to JAMB’s system-generated format.
“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” he added.
The Board urged candidates, parents, and the general public to rely strictly on official channels for verification of UTME results, warning against the spread of unverified information.
“The public is strongly advised to disregard this fake result and rely only on official communication channels for accurate information. All results at the moment are view-only,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid heightened public interest in the ongoing UTME results, with JAMB reiterating its commitment to transparency and integrity in the examination process.
