Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, Edo State, has taken a stern stance against the negligence of some of its principal officers by withholding their salaries for the month of July.
The university administration cited the officials’ failure to promptly submit result files for the 2020/2021 sessional examinations as the reason for this decision.
The AAU Acting Registrar, Ambrose Odiase, in a statement released on Friday, addressed the matter, revealing that the delay was a consequence of the non-compliance of certain Deans of Faculty and Heads of Departments.
Odiase stated that these officials had not submitted the crucial examination results, thereby hindering the activation of the current 2022/2023 academic session on the university’s portal.
To further emphasize the gravity of the situation, Odiase explained, “The AAU management has also suspended all financial requests from Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments with immediate effect.”
In response to the development, AAU spokesperson Mike Aladenika conveyed that the decision had been made with the students’ advancement in mind.
The accumulation of pending results yet to be uploaded onto the university’s portal has greatly impeded the progress of students, prompting the administration to take corrective measures.
Aladenika expressed, “The management is cognizant of the alarming backlog in processing transcript applications within AAU. Consequently, the Information Communication Technology Directorate has been instructed to digitize all academic records of students that have not been uploaded onto the portal.”
In a commendable move, the university has taken action against a suspected cartel engaged in transcript racketeering.
The suspects are currently under investigation by a disciplinary committee to assess the extent of their activities within the institution.
Aladenika reassured, “Rest assured, recalcitrant elements both within and outside the system will no longer go unchecked.
Our determination to eradicate such practices and restore the university’s esteemed reputation is stronger than ever.”
It is worth noting that the current Special Intervention Governing Council has ratified the management’s decisions, demonstrating their commitment to upholding the university’s standards.
