Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed his condolences to the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Professor Saka Matemilola, on the loss of his mother, Alhaja Aliratu Adunni Matemilola. The matriarch passed away in the early hours of Sunday, October 27, 2024.

In a statement issued by his media office, Amosun and signed  by Lanre Akinwale, shared his sorrow alongside the Matemilola royal family, noting that the passing of Alhaja Matemilola, also known as Iya Oba, has left an irreplaceable void.

He praised her life as a model of dedicated motherhood, highlighting her strong influence in raising not only her own children but also other family members.

Senator Amosun emphasized the significance of Alhaja Matemilola’s role as the mother of the Olowu of Owu, describing Oba Matemilola as a “symbol of unity, progress, and development” in the Owu kingdom.

He reflected on her legacy as one that would be celebrated for her contributions to the community, adding that she would be remembered as a nurturing figure who exemplified values of quality parenting and guidance.

Rather than mourning, Amosun urged Kabiyesi and the royal family to celebrate the impactful life of Alhaja Matemilola, taking comfort in her enduring legacy.

He offered prayers that Allah would forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus, and give the Matemilola family strength during this period of grief.

The statement  concluded with heartfelt prayers for the family and the Owu Kingdom.
