Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed his condolences to the Muslim community following the passing of renowned Islamic preacher and Oniwasi Agbaye, Sheikh Muiydeen Bello, who died on Friday at the age of 84.
In a statement issued on Friday by his media office, Amosun described Sheikh Bello as a pious and impactful religious leader who dedicated his life to promoting peace, honesty, and integrity.
The senator noted that Sheikh Bello’s teachings resonated far beyond the South-West region, earning him respect and recognition even in northern Nigeria.
“As a religious leader, Sheikh Bello was always available to provide counsel to people in power and those in need.
He was pious and stoic in his lifestyle. He was frank, honest, and ever committed to such laudable values of peace, honesty, integrity, and co-existence of people of different religious persuasions,” Amosun stated.
The former governor praised the late cleric for his unwavering commitment to fostering unity among Nigerians of diverse religious beliefs and for his contributions to societal development through his sermons.
Praying for the repose of Sheikh Bello’s soul, Amosun said, “May the Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give the notable family he left behind the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Sheikh Muiydeen Bello was widely revered for his impactful sermons and exemplary lifestyle, which made him a respected figure in Nigeria’s religious landscape.
His passing has left a significant void in the Muslim community.
