The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has promised to facilitate projects and development initiatives that will directly impact the lives of residents if elected.
Amuzu made the pledge while commissioning a borehole for public use at Laloko Compound, Igbore, Abeokuta South, Ogun State, where he said his ambition was to ensure that residents experienced meaningful development through effective representation.
The PDP candidate said access to potable water remained a critical need in many communities, stressing that providing basic infrastructure should be among the priorities of elected representatives.
Amuzu said his interventions in the constituency before assuming office were motivated by his desire to demonstrate that representation could be measured by tangible benefits delivered to the people rather than political promises.
He said, “If I can use my personal money to finance projects for the public, then I believe I will do well with government funds. Government funds are meant for the people and my priority will be to ensure that such resources are channelled into projects that will improve their lives.”
The candidate said his vision went beyond the provision of individual projects, noting that he wanted to build a federal constituency where residents would be able to identify with concrete development and take pride in their communities.
According to him, political representation should not be restricted to election campaigns, party activities and promises, but should translate into practical interventions capable of addressing the everyday challenges confronting constituents.
He added that, if elected, he would collaborate with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to attract projects and initiatives capable of creating lasting value across Abeokuta South.
The newly commissioned borehole at Laloko Compound is one of the community-based interventions associated with Amuzu, particularly in the area of access to potable water and other basic amenities.
Urging residents to protect the facility, Amuzu appealed to the community to take ownership of the project and ensure its proper maintenance so that it could serve the people for a long time.
He said, “My desire is to see a federal constituency that the people will be proud of.”
Amuzu further pledged to work towards a constituency where the impact of government would be visible through improved infrastructure, practical development projects and initiatives tailored to the needs of residents.
The event was attended by the Ogun State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Shodipo, community leaders, residents and other stakeholders.
