The aspiration of the All Progressives Congress consensus candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, has gained momentum following endorsements by party leaders and traditional rulers across the constituency.
Party stalwarts from Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas said the consensus arrangement that produced Adeleye reflected internal democracy, inclusiveness and fairness within the party.
The endorsement came as traditional rulers, including the Olu of Itori and the Olorile of Orile-Ifo, offered royal blessings to the candidate during separate visits, expressing confidence that her emergence would ensure broader representation for the people.
Speaking at stakeholders’ meetings held in both councils, the Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, and a former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oluomo Olakunle, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for supporting a consensus process they described as transparent and equitable.
The leaders noted that the arrangement followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders, adding that it was in the interest of equity to allow Ifo Local Government to produce the next representative.
They also acknowledged the contributions of the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Isiaka Ibrahim, while urging party members to mobilise support for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
In separate remarks, the APC Chairman in Ewekoro Local Government, Ayinde Sogbamu, and his Ifo counterpart, Olumide Oduwole, stressed the need for unity and loyalty within party ranks to secure electoral victory.
Oduwole said Adeleye had demonstrated consistency and capacity, urging members to rally behind her candidacy.
Responding, Adeleye expressed appreciation to party leaders for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to represent the interests of all communities within the constituency if elected.
She also announced plans to support party infrastructure at the grassroots, including the donation of a generator and fans to the APC secretariat in Ewekoro.
The meetings were attended by ward executives, youth and women leaders, councillors, and other stakeholders from across the two local government areas.
