Atiku Accuses APC Of Subverting Democracy, Alleges Judiciary As “Cash and Carry

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku- Abubakar, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is undermining democracy by turning the Nigerian judiciary into a “cash and carry” system.

Atiku contends that the APC’s influence has tainted court decisions, leading to controversial outcomes in various election cases across states controlled by opposition parties.

Expressing concern over the alleged manipulation of the democratic process, Atiku asserts that the APC, led by President Bola Tinubu, is employing tactics to diminish the influence of opposition parties and solidify its grip on power.

Atiku points to instances in Lagos State where opposition figures faced suppression, with judges seemingly compelled to align with the ruling party.

The former vice president draws attention to recent developments in Plateau State, where election petition cases are raising eyebrows.

Atiku highlights a viral video in which an APC lawmaker hints at compromising the judicial process to secure victories for the ruling party.

He emphasizes the need for collective action, urging individuals of good conscience to unite in safeguarding the democratic values under threat.

Atiku also criticizes the appointment of loyalists by Tinubu within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging an orchestrated plan to impose a one-party state on Nigerians.

The confirmation of these appointees by Sen. Godswill Akpabio, whom Atiku labels as a lackey, raises concerns about the independence of government institutions.

Quoting legal luminaries such as Justice Dattijo Muhammad, Olumide Akpata, and Femi Falana, Atiku argues that recent judicial decisions raise questions about the integrity of the judiciary, comparing unfavourably to the era of military dictatorship.

In a call to action, Atiku emphasizes the importance of eternal vigilance to counter the perceived onslaught on democracy by the APC.
