Less than two weeks before the governorship election in Edo State, four aides to the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki have resigned their appointments. A 32-year-old man identified as Bashir Umar, has been arrested for allegedly luring an eight-year-old girl into a restroom, torturing and sexually assaulting her. The Police Command spokesman, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, explained that Umar is from Galamawa town, Dutse Local Government Area of the state. According to Adam, the suspect subjected the girl to unimaginable torture before sexually assaulting her in most heartless circumstances, saying that Umar inserted scissors and a spoon into the innocent girl’s private parts. Troops of the Nigerian Army have captured a suspected female kidnappers’ informant in Taraba State. Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Jalingo, explained that the suspect was arrested on 6th September 2024 by the troops at Sondi village in Wukari LGA of the state. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, is investigating the miracle water and soap being sold at Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin. The Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, deported a total of 61 foreign nationals from the country in August 2024. This is according to a report released by the Service detailing its achievements for August 2024. NIS said the exercise is to address and curb the issue of irregular migration in the country.
