A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has launched a blistering attack on the party’s former governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, declaring that he is politically irrelevant.
George, a former military governor of Ondo State, made the remarks on Tuesday during an exclusive interview on Frontline, a current affairs program on Eagle 102.5 FM.
He warned that merely responding to Jandor’s claims would erase whatever political presence he still has in Lagos.
“If I take him on, he won’t dare walk the streets of Lagos. I’m in my 80s, he is a child.
“This little rat you are talking about, what does he know about the PDP? It is an insult for me to even respond to him. My children are much older than him,” George declared.
George accused Jandor of lacking an understanding of party politics and leadership, arguing that his candidacy was a mistake that cost the PDP credibility in the last gubernatorial election.
He revealed that the party had more qualified aspirants, including Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), who was convinced to step down for Jandor despite having stronger credentials and experience.
“Jandor was recommended by someone I respect, but he was no match for another aspirant who studied at MIT, comes from a respected family, and had contested before in Lagos West Senatorial District, which covers 10 local governments,” George said.
According to him, the decision to make Jandor the PDP candidate led to GRV defecting to the Labour Party, a move that ultimately weakened the PDP’s chances in the election.
George also criticized Jandor’s choice of running mate, Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, describing it as an ill-advised decision.
“He was told to pick one woman from Ikorodu, and he went ahead with it, without considering political strategy,” George remarked.
Jandor, who resigned from the PDP on March 4, 2025, accused party leaders of internal sabotage and working against his candidacy.
He claimed that the Lagos State PDP Chairman, Philip Aivoji, falsely announced his withdrawal from the election and alleged that George had openly supported another party’s candidate.
Responding to these claims, George dismissed Jandor’s defection as insignificant, stating that he had “committed an unforgivable sin” within the party.
“This clown just joined the party and hasn’t even contested a ward election. He got what he deserved. What you sow is what you reap,” George declared, without disclosing details of Jandor’s alleged wrongdoing.
He also refuted claims that Jandor’s exit was a setback for the Not Too Young To Run movement, insisting that politics should be built on “justice, fairness, and equity, not favoritism or lack of political orientation.”
