In an effort to shield Nigeria from the emerging trend of military involvement in governance across African nations, the renowned Boiling Point Arena is set to host an insightful online discussion on governance and nation-building.

Distinguished figures, elder statesman Prof. Anthony Asiwaju, an Emeritus Professor of History with expertise in African Borderlands and Integration Studies, and retired former Deputy Chief of Defence Administration, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, now an Associate Professor of Global Counter-Terrorism, are slated as discussants for the event.

Scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2023, this 11th installment of the Boiling Point Arena will dissect the topic: “Shielding Nigeria From The Coup Contagion and Halting Incursion of Military Rule in Africa.”

The Boiling Point Arena, a monthly current affairs program with a substantial online following, was conceived and convened by Mr. Ayo Arowojolu, a seasoned Media Professional with 33 years of diverse work experience in media, banking, and education sectors.

The event will be conducted via Google Meet and broadcast live by Sweet 107.1FM, an Abeokuta-based radio station, from 8pm to 10pm, ensuring wide accessibility to the discourse.

Mr. Eddy Ademosu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the program and a notable Public Relations Icon, stated that the discussion would delve into the historical factors that contributed to Nigeria’s prolonged era of military rule following its independence in 1960.

The goal is to propose enduring solutions to prevent a resurgence of military governance in Nigeria and the broader African context.

The eminent panelists are expected to outline action plans to promote good governance while highlighting key principles for today’s political leaders to internalize, effectively discouraging any temptation towards military coups.

Mr. Ademosu also commended Sweet FM’s management, led by CEO Senator Olugbenga Obadara, for their commitment to worthwhile causes, emphasizing the partnership’s aim to broaden the audience through terrestrial and online channels.

Boiling Point Arena, comprising a diverse array of eminent personalities including over 200 Professors, technocrats, industry leaders, High Court Justices, traditional rulers, security experts, media professionals, and more, remains dedicated to fostering critical discussions on key national and continental issues.
